Democrats urge Weiner to resign, new photos emerge

New lewd photos emerged of Representative Anthony Weiner on Sunday as Democratic party leaders renewed calls for him to resign over an Internet sex scandal that prompted him to seek a leave and treatment.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee, said party leaders including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi decided to make a coordinated push for Weiner to step down once it was clear he did not intend to do so.

"At the end of the day a member of Congress makes their own decision and that's certainly going to be up to Anthony Weiner," Wasserman Schultz said on NBC's "Meet the Press".

"But we have made clear that he needs to resign, he needs to focus on getting his own personal issues in order, focus on his family and do the right thing for his constituents."

Anthony Weiner's wife Huma Abedin reportedly pregnant

On the heels of an emotional press conference where he admitted to lying, a new report says NY Congressman Anthony Weiner‘s wife, Huma Abedin is pregnant according to the NY Times.

The couple who married in July of 2010, had told only close friends and family members and Abedin, 35, is in the early stages of pregnancy.

On Monday, Weiner, 46, fessed up to lying and posting compromising photos on twitter and engaging in X-rated chats in the public confession but he  maintained his marriage to Abedin (who wasn’t present,) was still solid.

“We will weather this,” he told reporters. “I love her very much, and she loves me.”

Abedin, who has been a long time aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, hasn’t missed work since the story broke and left the country yesterday for Northern Africa with the Clinton team.

Matt Damon delays fundraiser for Anthony Weiner

Oscar-winning actor Matt Damon may not be abandoning Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., in the wake of his recent Twitter scandal, but he may be trying to put a little distance between himself and the shamed politician.

Damon had been scheduled to host a fundraiser for Weiner in Manhattan on June 20, but it now has been postponed, but not cancelled, according to New York magazine. A new date hasn't been announced.

"It's going to be postponed now because of all this," Damon told the magazine, referring to Weiner's admission Monday that he sent explicit pictures of to several young women. "Look, I really support his politics ...Anybody who fights for the working class and the middle class, I'll help in any way I can."

The 40-year-old actor, known for playing Jason Bourne in the action thrillers and for such films as "Good Will Hunting," "The Departed" and "The Talented Mr. Reipley," has been active in Democratic causes in the past, as has his Boston pal Ben Affleck.

Anthony Weiner admits to sending lewd pictures to woman via Twitter

This is the photo that Meagan Broussard claims Rep. Anthony Weiner sent her as proof of his identity
A painfully embarrassing week for the New York Democratic congressman Anthony Weiner was brought to an excruciating denouement when he admitted that he had sent sexually suggestive photographs of himself over the internet, confessed to lying to cover it up but said that he was not resigning.

In a half-hour press conference during which he at several times was fighting back tears, Weiner made a total and grovelling apology. After days in which he had at first claimed the photographs were hacked out of his computer and sent without his knowledge, he said he took responsibility for his "dumb" actions.
