Aisha Buhari's Future Assured Partners with Medicaid Cancer Foundation in Kebbi State as training for healthcare workers in the state kicks off

As part of the Pink October cancer awareness activities, the wife of the president is screening 1000 women for breast and cervical cancer free in Kebbi state. The screening is being carried out as a joint venture between the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, an initiative of the wife of the Kebbi State governor Dr Zainab Bagudu and Future Assured, an initiative of Mrs Buhari. This is in addition to the 2000 being sponsored by the Kebbi state government. 

The Breast Cancer Awareness month activities began today in Sir Yahaya Hospital Birnin Kebbi with training and capacity building for 66 healthcare workers in the state. The training is being carried out by Medicaid Cancer Foundation, Society for Family Health and the Nigerian Medical Association. Women across Kebbi state have also been mobilized for the screening which starts in Bunza on Thursday 6th October. In addition, a 'See and Treat' intervention method is being used for any positives picked for cervical cancer by use of cryotherapy on the spot. 

MCF as an organization that has been in existence for the past 8 year and has been involved in awareness, screening and treatment of cancer patients who can’t afford this on their own.

It is in light of this work the wife of the President of the is partnering with Medicaid Cancer Foundation to sponsor an additional 1,000 women for breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment in Kebbi State.

Future Assured Organisation is an initiative that improves the health and well-being of women and children through advocacy, community mobilization and health promotion.

The Medicaid Cancer Foundation is particularly worried about the increasing practice of bringing very late and graphic cases to public attention, especially through social media and wishes to promote skills that will make us detect cases earlier so that outcomes can be improved.

Activities include:

1. Walk Against Cancer: Go Pink Walk- 8am, 7th October 2016. Kickoff is at Government House Birnin Kebbi

2. Free Cervical and Breast Cancer screening for women in 4 LGAs – Birnin Kebbi, Bunza, Arewa and Nagaski.

3. Training exercise for 66 (2 per LGA) health workers across the state on Cervical Cancer screening using visual inspection. This hold in Sir Yahaya Geberal hospital From 4th to 8th October.

4. Setting up and donating start up materials to the 4 LGAs.

5. Media chats and sensitization forum in Waziri Umar Polytechnic, Bunza, Ngaski and Arewa LGAs.

6. Cancer awareness and Fundraising evening in support of Cancer victims in the state.

In the last decade, there has been little or no knowledge of cancer. But with modern medicine and research & technology, information has been updated as well as treatment. In Nigeria, it is important that we create awareness to reduce mortality rate.

The 8 year old foundation is an initiative of the Wife of the Kebbi state governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu. This year’s theme is ‘Promoting Early Detection of Cancer to Reduce Mortality Rate’

The Medicaid Cancer Foundation is particularly worried about the increasing practice of bringing very late and graphic cases to public attention, especially through media and wishes to promote skills that will make us detect cases earlier so that outcomes can be improved.

Activities include:

A drama about a woman’s battle with breast cancer that will target women and youth organizations. Other stars include Rabi’u Rikadawa, Jamila Nagudu and Alhassan Kwalle.
• 8.       Other artists expected to support with specially produced material on Cancer prevention include Hausa rapper Morell, Sadiq Zazzabi, Zakara and Voices for Girl Child.

Various committees have reached advanced stage of preparation. Look forward to future correspondence as there will be more activities that will take place in Abuja this month that will continue to engage the public.

Kebbi State SSA on New Media

The Kebbi State governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on Thursday, December 18, 2015 appointed photojournalist and filmmaker, Aisha Augie-Kuta, as his senior special assistant on new media.


Aisha, an indigene of Augie Local government in Kebbi state is the daughter of late renowned politician and broadcaster, Senator Adamu Baba Augie. The appointment is with immediate effect. Mrs. Augie-Kuta, who is the first woman to hold this position, has won awards for her photo-documentary series on several subjects such as on the home life of migrating Fulani women as well as on breast cancer survivors.


Her awards include the Creative Artist of the Year at the Future Awards 2011 and the Sisterhood Award for Photographer of the Year in 2014. Her works have been exhibited in Lagos, Abuja and New York among others.


She is a graduate of Mass Communication from the Ahmadu Bello University and is an MSc in media and communication student from the Pan Atlantic University). She is married with three sons.

Certificate gist: Why we attached Buhari’s recent photograph to his result

The examination officer, Government College, Kastina, Kabir Ahmed has explained why the school authorities attached a recent passport photograph of the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to his statement of result.

Mixed reactions have been trailing the result of the former Head of State released by the school authorities as many are demanding explanations for the appearance of a 2014 passport photograph on a 54-year-old result.

Speaking with DAILY POST on phone, the examination officer confirmed that the school authorities decided to release the result after the owner had demanded for it.

Asked if the Daura General personally applied for it, Kabir said, “must he apply for it in person? We received a message that one of our ex students was demanding for his result and we had to release it. However, we are still expecting him to come in person for verification.”

Clearing air on the use of Buhari’s recent passport photograph on the controversial result, Kabir said: “this happened over 54 years ago. My work is to release the result as demanded, which I did. We have to attach his recent passport because we could not locate the one he used during registration. The issue now is, they demanded for the result and I’ve done my job”, he told DAILY POST.

When prodded further to explain why the result bears ‘Kastina’ State which was not created as at the time Buhari sat for the exam, Kabir said: “Mr. Journalist, I am going for prayer now, please call me back.”

However, so many blogs mistook the Actress for another popular Actress and Ex-Delta Soap model, Angelina Okorie.

Confirming the death of Ijeoma, a statement by the Rivers State chapter of the AGN reads, “The Actors Guild of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter regrets to announce the painful loss of our member, Mrs. Ijeoma Okori of Eleme Satellite, who died during child delivery, this morning (Sunday).

It pains more to know that our Comrade died alongside her twin baby.
