Harry Potter actors said their goodbyes and thanked fans for a wonderful 10 years as they addressed the crowd gathered at the London premiere of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.”
Emma Watson even broke down a little. “I will really miss Rupert [Grint] and Dan [Radcliffe]. I’ll just miss being Hermione. I just love being in her world. How can you top this?”
Going to the Harry Potter premiere for the cast must be like middle school, high school and college graduation all rolled into one. These kids missed out on a lot of normal things, but they got to ride on the back of thestrals and fight off death eaters…okay this is getting too nerdy too fast.
Watson eventually began to tear up and was consoled by one of the producers and JK Rowling herself after she told fans, “It’s overwhelming to try to find the words to say what I want to say, but I have been so privileged to play this role and be a part of these films...I’ve had the most amazing 10 years of my life. Thank you so much.”
Daniel Radcliffe joked about his role as Harry Potter, “Every opportunity I get from now on all goes down to the fact that I got very, very lucky when I was eleven.”
Watson was quick to jump to Radcliffe’s defense, “You didn’t ‘get lucky’ – you were and are the perfect Harry and will be forever.”
In general the cast was gushing with pride and humility over their roles in the franchise. “This will never happen to me again. It’s pretty amazing. You just have to let yourself revel in it and enjoy it while it lasts…There is a bit of sadness, but generally speaking, it’s a day to be elated,” says Radcliffe.
