Dr. Conrad Murray Might Have Put Himself On Trial

Turns out, Dr. Conrad Murray might be the cause of his own demise.

After Michael Jackson was pronounced dead, the doctor gave a two hour interview with Los Angeles Police Department Detectives at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey. It was during this interview that Murray confessed he had been administering Propofol to Jackson almost every day for two months.

According to TMZ, prosecutors almost didn’t even file the case, and wouldn’t have, if not for that crucial police interview, which Murray could have politely declined. The entire case is focused on Dr. Murray's irresponsible medical treatment of Jackson, but if not for the doctor volunteering the info, cops could've never proven anything.

But detectives apparently saw that Murray wasn't telling the truth, even after the interview. A law enforcement source close to the case told TMZ:

"He told the truth 70% of the time during the interview, and lied 30% of the time. And the lies created the suspicion that led to the investigation that led to charges being filed."

Another source explained why Murray volunteered the information.

"Murray and his lawyer never thought he'd be charged with a crime. He was worried about the bad P.R. and felt he could put a lid on it."

Another source added, "smart people who are arrogant think they can talk to cops and make a problem go away, but it doesn't work that way."

The ongoing trial has been a difficult one for Jackson's family, friends and fans. Actress Rashida Jones, daughter of Quincy Jones, remembers her friendship with the pop singer, describing him as "a bit of an alien."

"Michael basically grew up with us, so I have a million memories of him. We were at each other's house all the time. He was definitely a little bit of an alien, for sure, and when I was young, it felt as if he was my age, not 18 years older, but with just a little bit more pep."

Jones recalls one bizarre adventure with Michael:

"Later in my life, we'd go out on the town together. He always wore those surgical masks. Once, my sister, Michael, Emmanuel Lewis and I got in a car with Super Soakers and went by a movie theatre and supersoaked the hell out of people waiting in line. They had no idea they'd just been supersoaked by the King of Pop."
