Women have tried, but they have not conquered. George Clooney remains—and will always remain—a bachelor.
I doubt that'll keep anyone from trying, but even Clooney's best friend says he knew his recent romance with Elisabetta Canalis had an expiration date. Manuele Malenotti introduced the couple, but says he didn't see a future.
"I have known George for ten years. George wanted to meet Elisabetta and he asked me to make the introductions. I did as he asked but inside I always knew that it wouldn't last – to be honest I was expecting it."
I think we all were, but there's always the stray hope that some lucky woman will be able to lock that down. And because we do not admit defeat gracefully, there was even some speculation that Clooney's relationship with Canalis was a publicity stunt to cover up his true sexuality.
Sorry, gay men everywhere, it's not true.
"I have spent a lot of time with him and a lot of women have passed through his life. You never know in life, and men are having an identity crisis but I can tell you George is not gay."
Meanwhile, Elisabetta seems to be holding up as well as can be expected. The Italian beauty was spotted yachting with an ex flame. The two sunbathed off of Italy's Amalfi coast looking pretty cozy together. Grieving is hard.
