Bidding War For Casey Anthony's Parents: Bids Up to $250,000

Apparently the networks are still desperate to get the first post-trial interview with someone close to Casey Anthony. A syndicated talk show was reportedly “laughed at” when they bid $250,000 for an interview with Casey Anthony’s parents.

And the bidding for an interview with Casey herself has reportedly reached $1.5 million. It makes us all sick, but let’s be real. The bids are high because people are going to watch. It’s sad, but it’s true.

Last week, NBC, ABC and CBS were all reported to be bidding on an interview with Jose Baez, who was staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City. According to TMZ, Baez was meeting with famed lawyer Mark Geragos, and the two were most likely discussing strategy. Geragos famously defended Scott Peterson in 2004, and he also represented Michael Jackson’ in the early stages of his molestation case. So he knows a thing or two about dealing with the media.

Sources say the networks weren’t paying for interviews, but they are offering a ton of money to license photos and video from Casey. It’s basically just a way to get around admitting that they’re paying for an interview. NBC reportedly even paid for Baez’s hotel room.

ABC said in a statement: “We can book just about anyone based on the strength of our journalism.”
