Ondo workers reject N13,000 minimum wage

WORKERS in Ondo State Public Service have rejected the state government offer to pay  N13, 000 as against the N18.000 new Minimum Wage signed into law by President Jonathan in March, 2011 and are billed to commence  indefinite strike today.

The workers in a letter to the state government last Thursday issued a seven-day ultimatum to it to implement the new wage or face industrial action.

After a meeting with government officials yesterday, the workers insisted on the payment of N18, 000 Minimum Wage.

Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, Comrade Solomon Adelegan, said, “If the state government declines to consider and approve the salary agreed upon by workers and consequently issue an enabling circular to back up its immediate implementation between now and mid-night Wednesday, workers in the public service of Ondo State shall proceed on an indefinite strike  with effect from today.”
