Beyoncé has declared her intention to campaign for President Obama’s reelection next year. “I did the first time and I will again,” the singer told CNN’s Piers Morgan in an interview that aired last night. “I think he’s doing a great job. I think he’s fantastic,” she said. “I think he needs another term, he needs more time.”
Beyoncé performed the Etta James classic “At Last” during the Obamas first dance as president and first lady at the inaugural ball in 2009. “It was really powerful and overwhelming. I kept telling myself, ‘OK this is not about you; you have to do this for them,” she told Morgan, recalling the night. “‘You have to do this for history.’”
In another interview with W Magazine, the singer revealed that part of the inspiration for the title of her new album 4 is connected to the fact that Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States, in addition to the number being associated with her birthday and wedding day.
