4 feared dead, others wounded, as robbers raid banks in Delta

NO fewer than four persons were feared dead and several others wounded during a stampede in Kwale, Delta State, yesterday, when a gang of armed robbers, numbering over 15  raided three new generation banks in the town.

Nemesis, however, caught up with  some of them, as they were lynched at Amai by irate youths while trying to escape. A youth leader at Amai, who pleaded annomymity, told our reporter on phone that “three of the robbers were sent home (lynched) as they were escaping through this town.”

Vanguard gathered that the robbers stormed the town at about 2.30p.m., and held the town hostage for close to two hours the operation lasted. The banks raided were Unity Bank, Oceanic Bank and Zenith Bank branches  at Kwale.

Eyewitness said that the robbers came with dynamites, with which they blasted their way into  the strong rooms of the banks.

Residents ran helter skelter during the raid as the robbers shot sporadically. The actual amount of money carted away by the robbers was still sketchy at press time.

State Police Public Relations Office, Mr Charles Muka confirmed the robbery, adding  that “one of the robbers was killed and two of their vehicles abandoned.”

I believe think this guns, were the ones they used for elections.#wildthinking
