Beyoncé Knowles will perform at the Michael Jackson tribute show despite being pregnant.
The American singer and her rapper husband Jay-Z announced they are expecting their first child at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday.
The star is due to sing at a concert in honour of late musician Michael on October 8. The event is being staged in Cardiff, Wales, and Beyoncé was slated to perform via satellite. Following news of her pregnancy there were rumours she might not appear, but they have now been rebuffed.
'The pregnancy will not affect her performance,' representatives for the show confirmed to TMZ.
Beyoncé hasn't announced her due date yet, but is thought to be almost four months along. She'll sing a Jackson 5 tune in honour of the 'King of Pop' during the concert.
The tribute has caused problems within Michael's family. His mother Katherine Jackson has given it her full support, and plans to take his eldest two children Prince, 14, and Paris, 13, along. However, the singer's brothers Jermaine and Randy are unhappy about the plans.
Michael died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009. His physician Dr. Conrad Murray is to stand trial for involuntary manslaughter, which he denies. Jermaine and Randy think it is in poor taste to stage such a high profile event before the criminal case has been tried.
Many of Michael's fans have sided with his brothers and plan to boycott the event. TMZ reports show organisers have now arranged a conference call for those who are upset so the matter can be discussed.
'TMZ spoke to a rep for the concert who says they're inviting the leaders of several prominent fan groups to join them Wednesday for 'an informative call to address some of the misinformation about the upcoming Michael Forever tribute,'' reports the site.
Meanwhile, the judge in Murray's trial has banned the late singer's dermatologist from giving evidence. Murray's legal team planned to argue that Arnold Klein injected the star with painkiller Demerol for "for no valid medical purpose", resulting in him becoming addicted to the drug. The judge ruled it was not relevant.
The defence plan to show Michael as an addict who could have given himself the lethal dose of Propofol.
