'Misleading' Airbrushed Julia Roberts Ad Banned

Julia Roberts' L'Oreal advertisement has been banned in the UK after claims it has been excessively airbrushed.

Politician Jo Swinson complained about the adverts, which also included a Maybelline ad featuring Christy Turlington, to the ASA, Advertising Standards Authority.

She argued that the ads were 'overly perfected and unrealistic images' of women and the ASA upheld the complaints and banned the ads.

Roberts was promoting the Teint Miracle foundation while Turlington was promoting the anti-ageing line called The Eraser.

The ASA said that the ads breached the standards of exaggeration.

They said in a statement: 'On the basis of the evidence we have received we could not conclude that the ad image accurately illustrated what effect the product could achieve.'
