The results of Amy Winehouse’s autopsy investigation will not be determined for another two to four weeks.
London Metropolitan Police released a statement saying, “We are awaiting the results of further toxicology tests.”
The initial inquest was opened at St. Pancras Coronoer’s Court on Monday, and the inquiry was adjourned until October.
Winehouse’s family has been issued a certificate allowing them to hold the funeral, and a spokesperson for the Winehouse family told BBC News they plan to hold it as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, friends, family and fans are mourning the singer’s death, which, despite her battle with addiction, still came as quite a surprise. Winehouse's Ex-husband, Blake Fielder Civil, is currently incarcerated but has apparently been grieving over the loss from behind bars. The 29 year-old’s current girlfriend, Sarah Aspin, visited Fielder-Civil in jail, where he told her:
“I feel never again feel the love I felt for [Amy]. Everybody who knew me and knew Amy knew the depth of our love. I can’t believe she’s dead.”
Aspin says that Fielder-Civil is “devastated and shattered” over the news. “He just can’t take it in that she’s dead and he’ll never see her again…I just couldn’t console him. He was in total shock.”
Winehouse was married to Fielder-Civil for two years before filing for divorce in 2009. Winehouse revealed that her “whole marriage was based on doing drugs.”
“I’ve finally escaped from hell,” Winehouse said at the time. “I’m in love again, and I don’t need drugs. Look at me; I’m glowing!"
