Cyclist Lance Armstrong and the former friend who recently went public with the sportsman's alleged performance-enhancing drug use came face to face in an Aspen, Colorado restaurant yesterday night (12Jun11).

Olympian Tyler Hamilton recently confessed to 'doping' and accused Armstrong of using drugs during a 60 Minutes news item on TV in America.

The Tour de France hero, who has consistently denied links to drugs and who never failed a drugs test, has maintained he never took illegal substances to boost his career.

The two men met for the first time since Hamilton's TV appearance at Aspen restaurant Cache Cache.

Hamilton, who was dining with friends, tells Outside magazine, "He wanted to get into it. I was like, 'Let's step outside and talk away from the crowd, but he wouldn't. He said, 'No one cares.'"

But Armstrong tells the publication, "I said, 'Hey, what's up?' It was certainly awkward for both of us. It was truly uneventful."

According to Hamilton, he was then asked to leave the restaurant after finishing his meal and told he would not be welcome back at the restaurant.

Hamilton says, "I was rattled. I still am."
