Sir Elton John and David Furnish nominated for Celebrity Dad of the Year

Singer Sir Elton John and partner David Furnish are the first gay parents to be nominated for the Celebrity Dad of the Year title.

The couple became parents for the first time when their son Zachary was born via a surrogate on Christmas Day last year.

Other stars who have been nominated for the prize include footballers David Beckham and Wayne Rooney as well as singer Peter Andre and TV presenter Jonathan Ross.

The poll is being run by Premier Inn and the winner will be announced on Father's Day next month.

Andre, who is a dad to Junior, five, and Princess, three, picked up the prize last year.
