Senator elect’s brother jailed for multiple electoral offences

A  Yola Chief Magistrate Court two, Adamawa state has sentenced the brother of Senator Elect Bindowo Jibrilla representing  Adamawa North senatorial district   to a  three year jail for impersonating as an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, during the senatorial elections conducted on the 19th April 2011.

Idrisu Jibrilla was arrested on the 19th April 2011 at Mubi, Adamawa state by the Area Commander in Charge of Mubi with an INEC official jacket and a Sienna bus with registration number ‘Bindowo for senator 2011’ containing PDP
and CPC posters with the sum of seventy thousand naira cash.

Also found in his possession were hundreds of INEC ballot papers while moving from polling unit to polling unit donating the items to aide his brothers’ victory.

Idrisu Jibrilla according to the court illegally paraded himself as an INEC official by wearing the INEC official jacket and carrying posters of the newly  elected Senator Bindowo Jibrilla, and rigged the election.

Chief Magistrate Hindatu Lamorde then sentenced  Idrisu Jibrilla to a  three year imprisonment with an option of fine of N60,000, which the convict paid with receipt number 003008413.
