Man on trial for pouring urine on woman

A middle-aged man, Kamarudeen Jimoh, was on Wednesday charged before an Apapa Senior Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly pouring urine on a housewife.

Jimoh, 45, is standing trial on a two-count charge of felony and breach of peace; to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.

The police prosecutor, Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused had on April 23, at about 7.30 a.m. at Salawu Junction, Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, intentionally poured his urine on the complainant, Josephine Onwuegbujulam, at her shop.

He alleged that the accused went to the shop of Onwuegbujulam, poured urine on the goods and threatened to harm her. “The accused, after pouring urine on her and her goods, also challenged her to a fight,’’ he said.

Inedu said the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

The Senior Magistrate, Amos Adeyemi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N30, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till May 19 for further hearing.
