Kirstie Alley is undoubtedly the most memorable dancer on this season’s Dancing With the Stars. Alley was put up against younger, more energetic dancers, and not only did she hold her own, she danced her ass off—literally.
Since appearing on the show, Kirstie has dropped so much weight, she went from a size twelve to a size six, losing over 70 pounds. She looked good before, but that kind of weight loss is impressive.
The season started off bumpy, with Kirstie’s instructor Maksim taking an awkward fall and George Lopez making even more awkward jokes at her expense. But Kirstie held her own both on the show and off—firing back with a remarkable dance comeback and one upping Lopez with her own low blows.
Kirstie’s final freestyle performance earned three nines from the judges, and while Kirstie’s cartwheel got some flack, I don’t know many 60 year olds who can more like that. In fact, I don’t know many thirty year olds who can still do a cartwheel.
Carrie Ann Inaba said of Alley’s performance: “You are the new poster child for life as it should be lived at 60 years old! Free, loving, poignant, crazy, wacky, unpredictable and all of the above and then some.”
Right now, Alley has the lowest score between the other two contestants—Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane—but even if she doesn’t go home with the mirror ball trophy, proving herself was way worth it.
But for the record, i'm rooting for Kirstie!
