Adele: I never aimed to be famous

Adele has admitted she only went to performing arts school because she feared she was going to fail her school exams.

The singer enrolled at the BRIT School after getting into a tizz about her GCSE results, but had no intention of pursuing a music career.

She told Fabulous magazine: 'I never had the aim of being a professional recording artist. The only reason I ended up studying music at the BRIT School was because I knew I was going to fail all my GCSEs, so I panicked.

I knew I'd pass all the music and performance stuff, and because of that I thought I'd get work somewhere in the music industry. Getting signed was never an ambition. And the fame thing still feels odd, you know what I mean? Reactions from fans take my breath away.'
